Longtime Supporter Joanne Beattie Compton Makes Estate-Plan Gift to Create Opportunities for Future Students

“Stevens awarded me an Alumni Scholarship in 1975, which allowed me to afford to attend a top-quality engineering school. I took advantage of my time at school to make some lasting friendships and to get a good foundation in engineering education. Stevens drew top companies to recruit us when we were seniors, which opened the door to my first engineering job and the start of my career. The Stevens name continued to open doors when I changed companies. I am still grateful for the start that Stevens gave me 40 years ago and know I would not be where I am today without that foundation. I give annually to the Stevens Fund, and have almost since graduation, as my way of paying back the Alumni Scholarship. I also put Stevens in my estate plan, with the hope that future students will have some of the same opportunities I had.”
